Borbon is one of the municipalities in Cebu, Philippines. It is bounded on the north by municipality of Tabogon, on the south by municipality of Sogod, on the west by municipality of Tabuelan and on the east by Camotes Sea.

Borbon is mostly hilly with 75 percent of its total land area of 2,952.65 hectares made up of moderately sloping hills. Flat lands are few and can be found mostly in the barangay along the coast.

Administratively subdivided into the 19 barangays and has a 31,598 population according to the 2010 census.

The Town Leader


It is an arduous task to stay in power and hold the trust of the constituents with individual opinions and diversified level of intellects; but, this man successfully invades the heart of the townspeople because he steadfastly remains on his seat as the Father of Borbon. For him, people from all walks of life are equal under his leadership. With his political strength, Mayor Bernard "Butch" Sepulveda, is no doubt an institution in the Borbon political field.



Taking a Leap
Hundreds of years ago, Borbon was just nothing but a place inhabited by simple people with simple means of living.

  • there are no banks
  • no establishments
  • no transportation
  • no concrete roads
 The dwellers before used to travel only by foot and by beasts of burden.
But now, Borbon is an easy place to get around. The public transport system throughout the municipality is generally highly reliable and efficient. Evidently, developments took place.
  • Investors built up bakeshops, pawnshops, shell crafts, bank and other establishments.
  • The municipality offers different modes of public land transportation. Even Ceres buses got routes passing through Borbon

  • Roads were concreted and asphalted even in the sitios

Borbon evolved  from a smalll settlement founded by a man named as "Silomlogue". It was established in 1692. a number served he town as capitanes under the Spanish regime. And the first to become municipal mayor was Celestino Mondigo.

The Birth of Silmugi Festival
The Silmugi Festival falls on the 20th of January in honor of the patron saint, San Sebastian Martyr. The term Silmugi originates from the name of the cool, breezy, and captivating river which plays a vital role in the life of the town's inhabitants. One of the festival's highlight is a street dancing activity which involves a prayer for a bountiful harvest.


The Silmugi River is located in between the barangays of Poblacion and Cadaruhan, served as a vital medium in the success of the economic and commercial activities of old folks.

People from different towns and upland barangays of Poblacion and Cadaruhan, served as a vital medium in the success of the economis and commercial activities of old folks. People from different towns brought their products loaded on aship passing through Silmugi River and going to the market. It became the main gateway of many residents who lived in the mountains and hillsides of Borbon when they visited coastal barangays to do their barter and trade business.

As part of the municiplaity campaign i gaining more tourists, the Borbon residents and government officials headed by our mayor Hon. Bernard Sepulveda, instigated a one-of-a-kind tourist spot where bush nails, commonly known as "takyong, are cared of and cultured.

TAKYONG


Takyong is an edible kind of bush nails suited to your gastronomic appeal. It is scientifically known as Helecostyla Daphnis and said to be endangered. It has a hard shell which covers the bottom of the shell like an escargot. Moreover, it survives in a cool climate and need a bush or a tree to keep it from pests.
To advertise and spread the unique taste of Takyong, it is now bottled and preserved. It is now available at Borbon, Takyong Village and even in the market. It can be an alternative replacement of pork and it is best cooked as asado, adobo and barbeque.
